Enel is the name of an Italian manufacturer of electricity, which is reminiscent of Enel being a Thunder God.

2. Admiral Issho a.k.a Fujitora

Issho’s appearance is based on the fictional character Zatoichi who is a blind swordsman that carries a "shikomizue," a cane sword used for walking and fighting.

3. Donquixote Rosinante a.k.a Corazon

Rosinante is the name of the horse of the fictional character Don Quixote, the protagonist of the story El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha made by Spanish author Cervantes.

4. Gol D. Roger - Olivier Levasseur

Roger’s controversial execution was similar to Olivier Levasseur, a famous pirate known for allegedly hiding a treasure and leaving behind a cryptogram regarding its whereabouts during his public execution.

5. Roronoa Zoro/Zolo’s 

Name comes from the French Pirate Francois l’olonnais, who was famed for his cruelty and mercilessness. Alvida, Eustass Kid and X Drake are another few pirates who were based on real life seafarers.

Emporio Ivankov has a similar anatomy and style than the character "Dr. Frank-N-Furter" played by Tim Curry in the movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show".
